Openwork Scarf

For Christmas one year, I was trying to decide what to get my friends as presents. It was my first year in college and I didn't want to spend a lot of money, but I wanted to get something nice for all my new friends. Then I got the idea to make them all scarfs and mitten sets. I worked furiously all winter trying to get them all finished before we got back from break. Many balls of yarn and long spent hours later, I managed to make three gorgeous scarfs and two sets of mittens for my three closest friends. I was very proud of all my work and impressed that I got them all finished, and my friends loved them! As I saw them sporting their new winter accessories, I got jealous and wanted a nice scarf for myself. I went digging through all my balls of yarn and found this beautiful alpaca light weight yarn and thought this would be perfect. All I needed now was a pattern. I was bored with the regular ribbing pattern  and straight stockinette stitch, so I wanted to challenge myself with an exciting lace pattern. I did some searching online and didn't really see much I liked. Then I landed upon this openwork scarf pattern! It was perfect for what I wanted. Now that I've finished the scarf, I wear it everyday in the winter walking to and from classes at school. This is one of the best projects I've made for myself and I know I'm going to wear it until its hanging together by small threads.

Here is the pattern and I hope all who make it are as satisfied with it as I have been. Good luck!
